Time for a change

The East Sweden Loyal RSC is being redefined and reshaped to better stay in touch with the current times.

First of all, the Rangers supporters of Sweden has been rather unorganized, and I imagine this will still be the case. The fanbase in Sweden is realistically too small and to thinly spread to be able to enjoy very much organized activity.

When East Sweden Loyal RSC was formed a few years ago, it was with the best intent. The idea was to start something organized. Half-official. With connections to the club to get tickets and so forth. This didn't work out quite the way it was planned.

The reason for the name East Sweden RSC was because there was another named group of Rangers supporters on the west coast, linked with IFK Göteborg. In order not to step on their toes since we're all Rangers supporters, we decided not to claim all of Sweden but only the Eastern part, and hence the name. Within our club, we also have people who also follow AIK, Djurgårdens IF, Hammarby IF and IFK Norrköping. Probably even more teams than that. We reall don't mind.

Anyway, the supporter base that exists are mostly active on the Rangers section of the website SvenskaFans.com, and lately there has been some discussion there. As it turns out, the bst way to do this would obviously be to go as Sweden Loyals RSC, and if needed, to add one's city to that. For example: "Sweden Loyals (STHLM)" or "Sweden Loyals (GBG)" or whatever.

Since SvenskaFans is where the national communications has worked best, I imagine this is where we'll mostly go on from now on. East Sweden has a Facebook page too with a lot of fans, and that one will still be active.

Wether or not Swedish Loyals will do anything more ambitious - such as organizing trips or meets, getting tickets and so on - remains to be seen. If anyone wants to do something like that, I'll be very interested. Please suggest this on the SvenskaFans forum.

But for things to happen, somebody has to roll up their sleaves. Personally, editing the SvenskaFans section and writing for it takes all the time I can spare at the moment. Such is the fate of the poor student.

Now I don't claim to be speaking for the entire body of Rangers supporters in Sweden. But this blog will be my way to try to communicate news from this small but vibrant community to our fellow Bears world-wide, in English.

In the Swedish version, it's simply my opinions, provided on subjects that doesn't really belong on SvenskaFans. Note that this has no official ties with my role as editor on the SvenskaFans page. I don't speak for SvenskaFans or its readers, or even the Rangers section or its readers. Opinions on these two blogs are mine and mine only.

This is all done to try to keep up a dynamic fandome for Rangers in Sweden, and trying to work as a network between Swedish Rangers supporters.

That's it for now. Over and out.
